When You cannot find peace or serenity it is because some one or some thing is unacceptable to You. Until you find a way to accept that person or thing as being exactly as it is, and that you cannot change it. You will find no serenity or peace in your life! Only You can find acceptance for You of that person place or thing! To Accept something it is not necessary to Agree with that something. It is kind of like agreeing to disagree. You Accept because Agreement may not be possible and to continue to demand Agreement comes at a price that's unproductive or simply to high in its cost to you personally or just generally. The addict is out-of-synch with Society. Addicts associate only with other Addicts and transcend into the subculture of drug use. Paranoia, triggered by many different things, causes the Addict to become less comfortable around anyone who is not usingdrugs. Eventually, Addictive behavior evolves into serious Criminal behavior, resulting in Incarceration. Incarceration only adds to the problem. It would be very convenient to be able to resolve all of the issues that have attributed to one's Addiction. The issue here is that unless some kind of "Change" occurs rather quickly, you may either "Die" or end up spending the rest of your life in "Prison or some other Institution!" "Change" is the Key Word. If you make a positive change in behaviors, a positive change in thinking will occur. If you make a positive change in thinking, a positive change in behavior will occur. This is the premise that Cognitive Behavioral theories are based on!
